Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway - the world`s largest rotating tram car - travels over two-and-one-half miles along the breathtaking cliffs of Chino Canyon, transporting riders to the pristine wilderness of the Mt. San Jacinto State Park. During your approximately ten-minute journey, tram cars rotate slowly, offering picturesque and spectacular vistas of the valley floor below. Once you reach the Mountain Station - elevation 8,516 feet - enjoy two restaurants, observation decks, natural history museum, two documentary theaters, gift shop and over 50 miles of hiking trails.

Sunnylands

While in Sunny Palm Springs make sure to visit Sunnylands, the former Annenberg Estate, located in Rancho Mirage, California, is a 200-acre estate currently run by The Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands, a not-for-profit organization. The property was owned by Walter and Leonore Annenberg until 2009 and had been used as a winter retreat by the couple from 1966, when the house was completed. The property is "rich with historical significance," according to the city of Rancho Mirage, which declared Sunnylands an historic site in 1990. Located at Frank Sinatra and Bob Hope Drives, the property has been the vacation site of numerous celebrities and public officials. Sunnylands is to some extent regarded as the "Camp David of the West."

Moorten Botanical Garden

Established in Palm Springs since 1938, this privately-owned arboretum was created to share the beauty and extraordinary varieties of desert plants with everyone who visits. The featured desert trees, plants, and cacti come from around the world and range in size from miniature to giants! The Moortens are desert plant specialists and invite you to their residence estate. Moorten Botanical Garden is a living museum of desert lore and has something of interest for everyone with glistening crystals, colorful rocks, ancient fossils, and pioneer and gold mining relics. The classic collections on display are comprised of more than 3000 varieties of plants designed in concentrated habitats along a nature trail. In the world`s first Cactarium (a word coined by The Moortens), visitors will discover a special exhibition of rare plants seen nowhere else. Cactus Castle, the Moorten`s Mediterranean style home, sits in the Palm Grove Oasis and has often been described as a haven of tranquility steeped in the charm of old Palm Springs. Palm Springs Windmill Tours

The Palm Springs Windmill Tours is the only renewable energy wind farm tour that is endorsed by the Desert Wind Energy Association. Their tour will take you behind the fences onto their private grounds where no other tour will go. The tour starts at their tour headquarters where you will be given an overview of renewable wind energy, a history of our windmills since the inception in 1982 to today. Next, a private luxury bus takes you on the tour of the farms off property and ends with a free date shake at the Windmill Cafe. The windmills are an iconic feature of the area and is educational and fun for the entire family. The entire tour stops a few times where you can get up close to a windmill to see the majestic size and drives up to a vista.

Marilyn Monroe`s connection to Palm Springs is legendary. In 1949, at age 22, Marilyn was "discovered" in Palm Springs at Charlie Farrell`s Racquet Club by William Morris talent agent, Johnny Hyde. Many famous photos of Marilyn were taken around the Racquet Club`s swimming pool. In the 195O`s, she was a regular visitor to Palm Springs with her second husband, baseball great Joe DiMaggio.
